State grant could aid Falls Township makeover

FALLS TOWNSHIP Bucks County is in the running for a state grant that would help turn a former lumber yard in Falls Township into an attractive site for a manufacturer.

FALLS TOWNSHIP Bucks County is in the running for a state grant that would help turn a former lumber yard in Falls Township into an attractive site for a manufacturer.

The Bucks County Industrial Redevelopment Authority is a finalist for the state's Pennsylvania Brownfields Conference Extreme Makeover Award, the winner of which will be announced next month.

The grant would fund 75 percent of the initial environmental assessment of the former Haddonfield Lumber Yard, which will cost more than $100,000, said Pete Krauss, executive director the authority.

Even if the county fails to get the grant, it will find other ways to fund the site's refurbishment as part of its efforts to bring more industry back to the county, Krauss said.
